Everything you need to know about website accessibility

Digital accessibility is a priority for the Schneider Electric Paris Marathon.

Below you will find our accessibility statement, a dedicated contact form, and the concrete actions we have taken to ensure a more inclusive website for everyone.

Accessibility Statement

Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O.) has carried out an accessibility evaluation of the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris website, which has led to this accessibility statement.

A.S.O. is committed to making its websites accessible in accordance with Article 47 of Law no. 2005-102 of February 11, 2005.
To this end, A.S.O. implements a continuous improvement process to enhance the digital accessibility of its event platforms.
Each year, we strive to develop new features that make our digital platforms more accessible, in collaboration with our CSR & Sustainability department, digital experts, and accessibility specialists.

Your feedback also plays a crucial role in helping us improve.

Compliance Status

The Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris website has achieved a good overall performance score (85% and 89%) on https://www.schneiderelectricparismarathon.com/fr, but remains partially compliant with the French General Accessibility Improvement Framework (RGAA), version 4.1, due to non-conformities listed in the “Test Results” section below.

Test Results

An internal audit was carried out in July 2025 using Google PageSpeed Insights (Lighthouse version 11.4.1).
This evaluation identified several accessibility gaps in relation to RGAA 4.1 requirements.

The audit reveals a partial compliance level, with areas for improvement in the following criteria:

Partially Accessible Content

Non-conformities identified:

  • Contrast: Some background and foreground color combinations lack sufficient contrast, reducing readability for visually impaired users.
  • Names and Labels:
    • Some links lack visible or descriptive labels for assistive technologies.
    • Some images include redundant alt text duplicating on-screen content.
  • Tables and Lists: Some HTML lists are not exclusively composed of <li> elements, which may affect screen reader navigation.
  • Navigation:
    • The heading hierarchy (<h1>, <h2>, etc.) is not always respected, complicating the information structure.
  • Best Practices:
    • Some interactive areas (links or buttons) have insufficient touch target sizes, making them difficult to use on mobile or for users with motor impairments.

Content Not Subject to Accessibility Requirements

Certain third-party integrations or technical components are not covered by accessibility obligations, including:

  • Ticketing and registration components provided by external partners.
  • Interactive Google Maps.
  • Some PDF documents published without accessible tagging.

Preparation of This Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement was prepared on July 15, 2025.

Digital Accessibility: A Priority

Digital accessibility is a priority for the organizers of the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris.
We strive to make our website accessible to everyone, regardless of disability or browsing method.

A Continuous Improvement Approach

Recognizing that accessibility is an ongoing process, we have launched a progressive compliance initiative with RGAA version 4.1.

To this end:

  • An internal audit was carried out using Google Lighthouse (desktop version).
  • Both manual and automated checks were performed to identify compliant elements and areas for improvement.

Best Practices Already Implemented

The following elements already meet accessibility standards:

  • All images include descriptive alt attributes.
  • Page titles (<title>) are present and descriptive.
  • The lang attribute is correctly defined on the <html> tag.
  • No improper use of the tabindex attribute.
  • All interactive elements (buttons, links, menus) have accessible names readable by assistive technologies.
  • ARIA attributes are used correctly, with valid roles.
  • List items (<li>) are properly nested within <ul> or <ol>.
  • Iframes include relevant titles.

✅ These best practices ensure smooth keyboard navigation, optimized screen reader reading (NVDA, VoiceOver, JAWS), and better content indexing.
They also improve the overall user experience by providing a clear and logical page structure.

Areas Currently Being Improved

The following items are being reviewed to enhance compliance:

  • Insufficient contrast on some text elements.
  • Some links without visible names.
  • Redundant or uninformative alt attributes.
  • Heading structure (<h1> to <h6>) needs better logical order.
  • Small touch targets (links, buttons) on mobile devices.
  • Lists containing non-standard elements (e.g., <script> or <template> tags).

These improvements will be implemented in the coming months in collaboration with the technical teams.

Easy-to-Read (FALC) Page

To make essential marathon information more accessible, we have also created an Easy-to-Read (FALC) page:

This page presents the main event information in a simple, clear, and structured way, designed for people with cognitive disabilities or anyone who prefers simplified reading.
